This is SUCH AN EXCITING TIME OF YEAR for me! The countdown weeks until I arrive at the beautiful farmland near Floyd, Virginia and set up my little camper and greet, mix & mingle with a couple thousand friends for a weekend of … simply EVERYTHING! I always am amazed at how transformational this short time can be for me and so many of the people I have met over the past 10 years of attending and working at this festival.
All year I work with vendors, staff and volunteers to prepare, and throughout the event, I help to manage the Box Office, the golf cart shuttle operations, parking and security for the weekend. The crew of us that return year after year have become some of the most dear people in my life, and the volunteers, artists, and festival attendees that I meet new each year become instant friends. We share something that draws us close – a desire to strip away what keeps us small and limited and afraid. It is beautiful to greet everyone as they arrive, and watch them realize they are once again, home. Some folks arrive harried, tired and frustrated from the drive, and all the arranging it can take to leave behind a very busy and very complicated life for a few days of retreat, joy, excitement, connection, and rest. Some folks arrive fully ready to shine their light for others. And some folks, especially first timers, arrive skeptical, even standoffish. I send them all into the festival grounds with one sincere wish – that they catch a glimpse, even for a moment or two, at what is underneath all the busyness and the doing: that everything is PROFOUNDLY OKAY!
How many songs are there that shout this truth? Books? Wisdom teachings? We are all one interwoven being, and every little thing is gonna be all right <3
How I wish that everyone would awaken to this simple truth, and all the greed, hatred and delusion would dissolve and we would look around at each other and simply cry-giggle and hug. And then… we would dance & sing! For me, Yoga Jam is a practice ground for this very reality. All you have to do is show up!
TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE or you can VOLUNTEER and really be a part of the magic!
Last week I did a facebook live interview (my first!) with Leah from Her Sacred Circle. We discussed the festival, and I gushed for a half hour straight about all the yoga, music, vending, art, love and joy that fills this beautiful rolling hills and farmland. I hope you will check it out….NO better yet! COME TO THE FESTIVAL AND LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE, AND SHINE ON!
